Welsh Netcompany-Ineos talent to race despite mourning

News that has shaken the cycling world and deserves a silent applause even before any technical considerations: Josh Tarling will regularly start the Vuelta a España wearing the Netcompany-Ineos jersey, just a few days after the passing of his brother Finlay.
Finlay Tarling died last Friday during the eighth stage of the Volta a Portugal, struck by a vehicle that had entered the race course. The tragedy had raised concerns about Josh's possible withdrawal, but his family and the rider decided otherwise: the race will be held in his honor.
The 2026 Vuelta offers Tarling ideal terrain to make his mark: Saturday’s opening time trial, a 9.4km test around the Principality of Monaco, and the stage 18 time trial, a flat 32.1km route that seems tailor-made for his physical characteristics.
To honor the memory of Finlay, a promising young Welsh cyclist, a fundraiser has been launched to support the development of young Welsh cyclists. This gesture transcends sport and deserves the support of the entire cycling community.
Our thoughts go out to Josh Tarling and his entire family in this difficult time, as the peloton prepares to set off from Monaco for the 80th edition of the Vuelta a España.
