Stage characterized by rain, the big names are watching

Andreas Kron wins the second stage of La Vuelta da Mataró to Barcelona , ​​181.8 km. The Lotto Dstny rider reaches the finish line alone after a good action on the final stretch, in front of Groves and Vendrame. Stage characterized by the escape of five riders, including the two Italians Andrea Piccolo (EF) and Matteo Sobrero (Team Jayco AlUla); with them also Javier Romo (Team Astana), Jetse Bol (Burgos-BH) and Joel Nicolau (Caja Rural Seguros RGA).

The fugitives have an advantage over the group of about 1'30” with 55 km to go, but after a few kilometers three remain in the lead: Sobrero, Piccolo and Romo, with the advantage increasing to 2'.

23 km from the finish line, Sobrero didn't keep up the pace and Piccolo and Romo remained in the lead.  

In the final stage the rain affects the race with the crashes of Buitrago and Storer first and then of the red jersey Milesi; the Italian loses contact and also the leader's jersey.

In the last nine kilometres, the times for the general classification are expected to be neutralized, so the big names decide to stay in the rear, while thirty riders remain ahead to fight for the stage.  

In the final stretch of Kron who wins the stage, ahead of Groves and Vendrame, while the other Italian, Bagioli, is in fourth place.
