Rome, 19 November 2025 - The awards ceremony for the 2025 Coppa Italia delle Regioni took place today in the Sala delle Statue of Palazzo Rospigliosi in Rome. This is the exciting challenge between the athletes and the best Italian and international cycling teams, included in the prestigious ProSeries and Class.1 circuit of the UCI Europe Tour calendar, and promoted and coordinated by the Lega del Ciclismo Professionistico together with the Conference of the Regions and Autonomous Provinces.

The Coppa Italia delle Regioni is an innovative project launched in 2024 to promote the territories of the participating Italian regions through cycling and to foster the rebirth of national professional teams. The Challenge is based on points rankings, where scores from each individual race contribute to the final rankings: Individual, Youth, Best Climber, Combativeness, and Team Ranking. Sport, but also the promotion of local communities, health and sustainability, safe mobility, and equal opportunities in education and employment: this is what the Coppa Italia delle Regioni aims to be, a thread that unites, stitching together and promoting the regions, with the aim of embracing the entire peninsula and conveying important messages regarding cycling and our entire society.

The 2025 edition—21 men's and 10 women's stages held between March 5 and October 19, involving 250 athletes—crossed 11 regions: Abruzzo, Calabria, Emilia-Romagna, Friuli Venezia-Giulia, Lazio, Liguria, Lombardy, Piedmont, Tuscany, Trentino Alto-Adige, and Veneto, involving over 800 municipalities and thousands of fans along the roads. The season's results were impressive: over 67 million viewers on RAI and international channels, nearly 1 million impressions on the LCP YouTube channel, 8.5 million impressions on Facebook, and 5.7 million on Instagram. The overall winners were: Elisa Longo Borghini, winner of the women's classification and dominating with three out of four jerseys (combativity, categorized climbs, and the others). Among the young riders, Eleonora Gasparrini. Christian Scaroni won the men's individual ranking, Davide Piganzoli was the best young rider, Lorenzo Milesi the most combative, and Davide Bais was the best climber. Among the team winners, Polti Visit Malta (men) and Be Pink Imatra Bongioanni (women) were the winners.

The athletes received the Coppa Italia delle Regioni Trophy, designed and donated by Maestro Michelangelo Pistoletto. "Thanks to the Coppa Italia delle Regioni, we have made our legendary races known in Italy and around the world, we have highlighted the sporting achievements of our athletes, and we have brought this film to life through 11 regions and over 800 Italian municipalities. And thanks to RAI and television, this wonderful film has entered our homes, writing an important chapter in Italian cycling's history and making our dream come true. I thank Ministers Giancarlo Giorgetti (MEF), Daniela Santanché (Ministry of Tourism), Eugenia Roccella (Family, Birth Rates, and Equal Opportunities), and Andrea Abodi (Sport and Youth), represented today by the Head of the Department for Sport, Flavio Siniscalchi, together with the Conference of Regions and Autonomous Provinces led by President Massimiliano Fedriga, President Vito Bardi, and Secretary General Alessia Grillo.

"The greatest recognition goes to the Lega Ciclismo Board of Directors, all members, and athletes for making this edition a success," commented Lega Ciclismo Professionistico President Roberto Pella. Vito Bardi, President of the Basilicata Region and Coordinator of the Sports Commission of the Conference of Regions: "The Coppa Italia delle Regioni is much more than a competition: it represents the Italy of the regions, communities, and sports clubs that help our young people grow every day. I convey greetings from President Fedriga and reiterate a fundamental concept: sport lives in the regions, and the Regions are its driving force, its guardian, and its most authentic voice. Together with Minister Abodi, we are building a new national vision of sport, based on institutional collaboration, the valorization of local communities, and a program that looks to the future of the country. This event demonstrates that when regions, institutions, and the sports system work together, Italy becomes stronger."

Giancarlo Giorgetti, Minister of Economy and Finance, delivered a video message: "Cycling is a popular sport, a sport that engages everyone. I believe it's appropriate to highlight this today in Rome at the Coppa Italia delle Regioni awards ceremony. I salute the champions of the past, some of whom I even knew personally, who brought prestige to the World Championships held in Varese, which I remember with great fondness, and the champions of the present, who have been honored for 2025. The hope is that the momentum and passion you generate will energize the entire movement, already giving us a glimpse of the hope of having someone who can rival those who today seem destined to win everything."

The Head of the Department of Sport, Flavio Siniscalchi, representing the Minister for Sport and Youth, Andrea Abodi, emphasized that "The 2025 Italian Regions' Cup demonstrates the country's ability to design and develop complex sports initiatives, with a broad vision and untapped growth potential. Sport, when properly designed, becomes a driving force for well-being, cohesion, and the future. This is a remarkable result, achieved thanks to the collaborative efforts of institutions, regions, and the sports world, and it deserves to be supported with the same determination in the years to come. We will do so also because we believe in sport as a social infrastructure and as an investment in the health, identity, and development of communities and regions."

"My ministry enthusiastically supported the Italian Regions' Cup cycling project because sport perfectly embodies the profound meaning of equal opportunities: an equality that begins with the recognition of difference, and ensures that this difference does not constitute a disadvantage," said Eugenia Roccella, Minister for Family, Birth Rates, and Equal Opportunities, during the awards ceremony for the Italian Regions' Cup - Women. "Strengthening women's competitions and equalizing prize money are significant actions. During its G7 presidency, Italy also promoted sport as a platform for promoting equal opportunities. Projects like the Italian Regions' Cup make this a reality."

In conclusion, Minister of Tourism Daniela Santanché: "I am deeply honored to have participated, with my Ministry, in this competition, which is not just a sporting event but also the telling of an Italian story that speaks to our nation. We must be proud of our belonging, of rediscovering even the smallest and most hidden areas of the country, and I believe this is the aspect that best characterizes the Coppa Italia delle Regioni.

Let's all be passionate about "under tourism", about the eight thousand Italian bell towers, throughout the year, which will allow not only the GDP to grow but also to stabilize the many workers in the sector. Institutional partners of the Coppa Italia delle Regioni are the Ministry of Economy and Finance, the Ministry of Tourism, the Minister for Sport and Youth, the Department for Equal Opportunities of the Presidency of the Council of Ministers. Energy partner ENEL; Health partner, with unconditional support, is Novo Nordisk which with the Cities for Better Health project has been promoting health and prevention for over 10 years; Official partner Terna; Official partner - Coppa Donne CONAI; Official partner - Across Italy Poste Italiane; Mobility partner is Suzuki and Jerseys partner is Castelli. Today's ceremony concludes a very high-profile edition, which saw the participation of the best Italian and international teams, consolidating a project destined to grow and represent a point of reference for national professional cycling.
