Roberto Amadio will take his place

A rather unexpected change at the top of the Italian national team: after just one year in charge, Marco Villa is being replaced as head coach of the elite road team. The former coach will remain with the national team and will be responsible for the women's team and the time trial sector.

He will be replaced by Roberto Amadio , a 62-year-old from Veneto with a long career as a team manager in cycling. Until last year, he was the team manager for the Italian track and road cycling teams; this role will now be filled by Elia Viviani , recently retired and ready to take on important management roles.
