RULES 1ST MARBLE TOURNAMENT

GENERAL INFO

The Marble Tournament will take place at the Motovelodromo Fausto Coppi in Turin on 23 August 2025, on the occasion of the start of the Vuelta de Espana.

The tournament will be played through an initial phase, consisting of 3 rounds. At the end of these 3 rounds, the teams that have achieved the highest score will access the final.

The Tournament will be held using models created specifically for the event, which will faithfully reproduce the routes of some of the most iconic races on the World Tour cycling calendar.

PARTICIPATION REQUIREMENTS

Registration for the tournament can be done through the Fantacycling online shop, by purchasing the packages: “Registration for the Turin gathering 23 August 2025” and “Registration for the Turin gathering 23 August 2025, marbles trophy only”.

By purchasing the packages, members will have the right to: participate in the tournament and receive a pack of 6 balls with regulation sizes.

The participants will then be drawn randomly, forming the 18 teams participating in the tournament, corresponding to 18 teams from the World Tour.

If a group of friends registers, please inform the organization of your desire to create an independent team, thus excluding the registered members from the random draw.

Among the 6 marbles, there will be the one of the team you belong to during the tournament.

Eg. if the player is drawn to play for team Ineos, the pack will contain one Ineos marble and those of 5 other teams randomly inserted into the pack.

Each team will have its own captain and the teams will be composed of a minimum of 3 participants up to a maximum of 5, depending on the number of participants registered for the tournament.

NB there will be no age limits or category divisions applied

TOURNAMENT STRUCTURE

The participating teams will be randomly divided into 2 groups, called: Group A and Group B.

The tournament will be structured in 4 rounds. The first 2 rounds will consist of 2 games, one for each Group. In this initial phase each member of each team will have to complete a lap of the track, in the least number of throws possible.

In the third round, teams will not have to finish a lap of the course, but rather perform a sprint race in the style of “Bocce”, trying to get as close as possible to the finish line, playing not on a track, but on a long straight.

The top 4 teams from each group and the best fifth-placed team will then advance to the final. *

In this phase of the game, each member of each team must complete two laps of the lane in the least number of throws possible.

GAME RULES

The tournament requires the adoption of some simple game rules:

The shot

The ball must be shot by hitting the ball sharply with any finger of the hand. The finger must hit the ball stationary on the track, setting it in motion by reaction to the impact. It is not permitted to accompany the ball.

It is not allowed to move the ball before or after the shot. The shot is considered to have been made if the ball is set in motion even involuntarily.

The drilling

The shot is considered inside if the ball during its movement does not pass over areas located outside the lane, or if the vertical projection of the ball on the ground is always inside the lane. Otherwise the shot is outside: puncture.

In the event of a puncture, the player picks up his ball and brings it back to the starting point of the shot, placing it on the cushion.

Following a puncture, the player preparing to shoot is allowed to position the ball wherever he wishes along the axis of the road.

The invalid shot

The shot is invalid if the player:

Take it out;

He shoots when it is not his turn;

He throws a marble that isn't his;

Touch the moving marble;

Move the marble from its original position;

Shoot in an unauthorized manner.

In the event of an invalid shot, the player returns the ball to the starting point of the shot by placing it outside the lane and passes the turn.

The starting order

The starting order is established by drawing for the first round and in ascending order based on the ranking for the subsequent rounds (from last to first).

Start of the race

On his turn, the player places his ball on the starting line and proceeds to shoot.

The shooting sequence

Each shooting sequence is carried out according to the order of position on the track at the end of the previous sequence, and no longer according to the starting order.

Moving the opponent's marbles

The opponent's balls that are an obstacle to the shot, and only if they are stationary behind the one in turn, can be moved outside the lane near the edge, arranging them in the same order in which they were before the move.

Immediately after the shot, the displaced balls are put back into position.

The marbles in front of the current marble cannot be moved.

The collision between the marbles

The ball that is hit and goes out or passes for a stretch outside the track is returned to the point where it was before the impact;

If the ball that is hit moves forward while remaining on the track, it is left where it stops;

If the ball that is hit goes back, it returns to the point where it was before the impact;

If the collision occurs during an invalid shot, the ball that was hit is returned to the spot.

where it was located before the collision.

Collisions with other balls do not influence the judgment of validity of the shot of the ball that struck it.

The shot of this one is judged valid or invalid regardless of any collisions with other marbles.

The dubbing

The contestant who is dubbed is eliminated. Any dubbing is detected only at the end of the current sequence.

The arrival

If two or more competitors cross the finish line during the same shooting sequence, the winner is the one who throws his ball the furthest and only if it is kept on the track.
