No Giro d'Italia, Plapp in his place

Simon Yates will be at the start of the next Tour de France, his big goal for the 2024 season.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, the Briton chose the Grand Boucle and not the Giro d'Italia as expected until a few days ago. Unlikely to see him in action in both races.

If so, Yates will be making his seventh Tour appearance. He has twice finished in the top 10: in 2017 he was seventh (and won the youth classification) and last year he finished fourth. In 2019 he won two stages.

The Jayco AlUla team, for the Giro d'Italia, should field Eddie Dunbar as captain, supported by the new acquisition Luke Plapp and, for the sprints, by Caleb Ewan .
