Remco Evenepoel (Red Bull Bora Hansgrohe) wins the individual time trial of stage 16 of the Tour de France.

The Belgian completed the 26.1 km route from Évian-les-Bains to Thonon-les-Bains in 32'19" at 48.45 km/h

The first runner to set a significant time was Armirail, beaten shortly after by Mattia Cattaneo .

However, when the top-ranked players start, the music changes completely, with the intermediate stages being progressively lowered.

Skjelmose rode incredibly fast and beat Cattaneo, while at the end of the descent, Lipowitz crashed and hit the barriers. The German was immediately loaded into an ambulance and withdrew from the Tour.

Ayuso, on the other hand, fared very badly, losing 1'17" to his teammate, while Evenepoel flew, beating all the intermediates and winning the time trial by a landslide.
The only one who comes close to the world champion in the specialty is Pogacar who finishes 28 seconds behind.

Seixas (+1'16") and Del Toro (+1'21") also performed well. Third place went to an excellent Skjelmose (+1'04").
