Climbs and 35 km time trial with closure in Nice
Two more stages of the 2024 Tour de France were presented today. A very special edition for Italy given that the start of the race will be in Florence on Saturday 29 June for the stage with arrival in Rimini after 205km. In the following days the Cesenatico - Bologna (200 km), Piacenza - Turin (225 km) and, for the fourth stage, the start from Pinerolo with return to France.
Given the concomitance with the Olympic Games, which will start from Paris, the organization has foreseen a very different conclusion to the Grande Boucle than usual. No capital but the final finish has been moved to Nice.
In detail, stage number 20, scheduled for 20 July 2024, will be a concentration of climbs very similar to one of the stages we saw at Paris-Nice won yesterday by Tadej Pogacar. The fraction will measure 132 kilometers and will present 3 other Mountain Grands Prix, in addition to the final one: the Col de Braus (10 km at 6.6%), the Col de Turini (20.7 km at 5.7%) and the Col de La Colmiane (7.5km at 7%). The finish will be on the Col de la Couillole where Pogacar recently won. In total 4400 meters in altitude.
The day after the runners' last effort will be an individual time trial, starting in the Principality of Monaco and finishing in Place Masséna in Nice. The kilometers will be 35: in between there are two climbs, the one to La Turbie (8.1 km at 5.6%) and the Col d'Eze , which however in this case will only be covered for a short stretch (1, 6km at 8.1%). The brow will be placed exactly in the middle of the race: from then on downhill towards the finish line.
