Van Aert second in the sprint, retirements by Roglic and Ayuso

Jasper Philipsen won the 13th stage of the Tour de France, from Agen to Pau, 165.3km. Second again, in the sprint, Wout Van Aert.

The stage was windy in the first km: Adam Yates found himself in the breakaway together with 21 other men, including Van der Poel and De Lie, gaining a minute on the group. But the Brit is scary in the general classification, so the action fades after a further attempt by Gregoire, Cort, Bernard and Kwiatkowski which fails to score.

Another final sprint which, this time, sees Philipsen triumph, with his second success of the stage. Some riders including Bol and Capiot fell a few meters from the finish line with De Lie miraculously remaining standing.

After the withdrawal of Primoz Roglic, who did not start this morning after yesterday's fall, the stop also came for Juan Ayuso, positive for Covid, who had already dropped out in the first km of the race.

Tadej Pogacar retains the yellow jersey awaiting the two stages in the Pyrenees scheduled for the weekend.
