The group gives ample margin to a breakaway made up of 12 riders: Jasha Sütterlin (Bahrain – Victorious), Juri Hollmann (Movistar Team), Andrea Vendrame (AG2R Citroën Team), Lorenzo Milesi (Team DSM), Joe Dombrowski (Astana Qazaqstan Team) , Riccardo Lucca (Green Project-Bardiani CSF-Faizanè), Txomin Juaristi (Eusaltel – Euskadi), Giovanni Carboni (Equipo Kern Pharma), Mattia Bais (EOLO-Kometa), Lukas Pöstlberger and Alexander Hajek (Austria) and Liam Johnston (Trinity Racing). At the beginning of the last climb he tries to take advantage   Dombrowski   who detaches the breakaway companions, while BORA Hansgrohe works as a group to favor the attack of   Kamna   then followed by   Cepeda . At -3.5km the two reach and distance Dombrowski, while only ten remain in the main group. 2 km from the finish line, the leader of the general classification takes off   Geoghegan   Hart , only Haig, Carthy, Fortunato and Vlasov can resist him. Kamna to avoid the reunion tries personal action in the last hundreds of meters, it is the decisive attack: Cepeda collapses and finishes third anticipated by Vlasov who regulates the group of the best.
