The Belgian missed key training sessions due to a flu virus
Important withdrawal three days before the start of the Strade Bianche: Maxim Van Gils , 3rd last year, has withdrawn from the Siena classic.
As announced by Red Bull-Bora Hansgrohe, the Belgian was hit by a flu virus that did not allow him to train properly in the last few days and for this reason he had to give up the Italian race.
Van Gils was one of the favourites to get on the podium at Strade Bianche, so Red Bull Bora will rely on Adrià and Tim Van Dijke who performed well in the first races of the season.
