Giulio Ciccone was recently awarded the Golden Lily in Calenzano (Florence) and, on that occasion, he spoke about his plans for the future and more specifically for 2026.

The Abruzzese now seems definitively convinced to aim for one-day races , stage wins , and the climbers' jerseys . 2025 was the last year in which he attempted to secure a Grand Tour finish, but a crash at the Giro d'Italia and a sluggish performance over the three weeks compared to the other Vuelta contenders forced the Lidl-Trek rider to throw in the towel.

His recent season has not been disappointing, in fact, in addition to the defeats in the Grand Tours, the 1994-born rider has enjoyed some excellent results in the tough one-day races, which he will focus on strongly in the coming seasons: the 2nd place in Liège, the victory in San Sebastian and the 6th place in the terrible World Championship let us foresee very good feelings for 2026.

Ciccone finally declared that he would like to participate in the Tour de France , although he is waiting for the official Giro route to make any final decisions. What is certain is that the classics with high elevation gain will be his main objectives, starting with Liège-Bastogne-Liège .
