The Belgian talent should remain in the development team
Belgian talent Jarno Widar looks set to remain with the Lotto Dstny development team for the 2025 season, despite interest from as many as 10 WorldTour teams.
The 18-year-old is one of the most sought-after young riders after winning the Alpes Isère Tour, the Giro d'Italia Next Gen and the Giro della Valle d'Aosta in 2024, in his first year among the Under 23s.
Widar, who joined Lotto-Dstny's program at the start of the year, also finished second at the Ronde de l'Isard and the Flèche Ardennais after winning a series of races at junior level including the
Red Bull Bora-Hansgrohe was among the teams chasing Widar. The German team's offer is said to be very attractive , but Flemish media reports that Widar will remain with Lotto's development team for 2025.
Widar was reportedly unhappy with the team after a disappointing 29th place at the Tour de l'Avenir.
The disagreement has apparently been ironed out despite Widar being spotted at the Red Bull Athlete Performance Centre in Salzburg, Austria, in early September.
