"Hindley's escape from the Tour happened by chance; at the Vuelta take Kamna, and on the world championship..."

Great guest in the August 3 episode of the Fantacycling Salotto. Enrico Gasparotto, sports director of Bora Hansgrohe , commented with us the approach to the world championship in Glasgow, also giving valuable advice for Fantacycling: “Take Kamna to the Vuelta, he will score many points. Uijtdebroeks will have to gain experience, if he is confirmed in the Vuelta lineup he will be able to do it. Unfortunately not all the youngsters are called Remco Evenpoel, but even Cian doesn't know where he can go now. Higuita is a potential winner, but it also makes us very angry because he can't keep his position in the group, he was scared after the bad crash in the Tour, but he has potential. I hope he can overcome this psychological limit.   On Schachmann: “He had a lot of physical problems that forced him to start from scratch and this can compromise his self-esteem a lot. I hope that in the season finale we can unlock it, because he's an incredibly strong rider."

Gasparotto has clear ideas about Sunday's world championship: "Belgium and Holland are the national favourites, the rain will affect the race, this is one of the reasons why I put Van der Poel among the favorites for his ability to ride the bike, because when he aims for a race of one day he's not wrong and because he didn't have pressure on the Tour. Then surprises can also come along such a path: above all Asgreen and Pedersen ".

Then a comment on the last Tour de France, with the team leader Jai Hindley who also wore the yellow jersey: “ We had a very big regret about the Tour which immediately started in a very demanding way. Up until now, Jai has always finished the third week on the rise, because his performance is very consistent, which allows him to keep the 7 watts per kilo in the first and last week.

Unfortunately in the Morzine stage, Jai was involved in the big fall, he hit his back heavily and from there he was no longer able to express himself at high levels because every time he got up on the pedals he had something blocking him. So I think snatching a seventh place in the standings despite these problems is a positive result.

I think Jai can still get important results in the three weeks because this continuity of performance leads him to be competitive; I raced in a team with Vincenzo Nibali who never had super wattages in the first week, but his continuity of performance led him to win what he won.

The breakaway on the day of Hindley's stage win and yellow jersey happened by accident. It was difficult to manage, but we decided to take this risk and Jai agreed, Buchmann and Konrad were also good who entered the attack with him which allowed him to stay behind."

Gasparotto also spoke of the difference between the spectacle between the Giro d'Italia and the Tour de France: “The Tour de France is a unique event, it cannot be compared to any race on the calendar, for this I must also congratulate ASO, for how does it handle it. The teams arrive with the best possible riders and this generates a lot of pressure and speed, so the race is much more difficult.

At the Tour everyone has a great desire to win a stage, but especially in 2023, the Giro d'Italia had a very tough journey in the third week, plus in the first fifteen days there was always rain: this generated great tiredness in runners. The Tour this year had a tough start with one against one between the great leaders (Vingegaard and Pogacar ed) and the last week was not too tough.

So there was great wait-and-see at the Giro, maybe it wasn't a show for the viewer, but in my opinion it's not like that, because this year one was attached to the TV until the last day, while the Tour is until Tuesday of the third week, with the dominance of Jumbo and Vingegaard”.
