Van der Poel second in the sprint

Mads Pedersen won the 86th edition of the Ghent-Wevelgem, run today in Belgium over a distance of 253 km.

The decisive action over 70 km from the finish line with the Lidl Trek as the great protagonist. Pedersen, Mathieu Van der Poel , Pithie, Stuyven and Milan, reached after a solitary escape attempt, leave. Then the latter breaks away while Stuyven suffers a puncture and is joined by the group. Then it's up to Pithie, who is unable to keep up with the pace of the Dane and the world champion on the last pass of the Kemmelberg, 34 km from the end.

The winner is decided by a two-man sprint: Pedersen beats Van der Poel and wins his second Ghent-Wevelgem in his career. Third, in the bunch sprint at 16 seconds, Jordi Meeus. Excellent fifth Jonathan Milan , also preceded by Jasper Philipsen.
