Departure from Albania, then transfer to Puglia
The 2025 Giro d'Italia will be announced on November 12, but many rumors are already circulating, such as the now certain departure from Albania with three stages and the probable involvement of the capital Tirana.
The idea of a transfer to Puglia remains alive, a region that has not seen the Giro d’Italia for five editions and would be the southernmost point of the route. Rumours are circulating of Alberobello, Brindisi and Lecce as possible starting or finishing locations.
The caravan would go up the peninsula towards the north with the possibility of some stages between Umbria and Tuscany : cities such as Gubbio and Siena have been proposed to host a stage, as well as a possible time trial, also in Tuscany, from Pisa to Lucca.
The Alpine stages have yet to be revealed, but Bormio and Morbegno in Valtellina are being talked about as the finishing towns, so the passages on local climbs such as Stelvio, Mortirolo or Gavia would be a must. A couple of days in the north-east are also very likely, in particular in Gorizia , the capital of culture 2025. Finally, the arrival in Sestriere in the 20th stage and the conclusion in Rome seem to be certain.
Furthermore, as stated by Vegni, patron of the Giro, a new border crossing is possible, between the second and third week in Slovenia , to honour the last two winners of the pink jersey, Roglic and Pogacar.
