Guangxi Tour, stage 2: Biesterbos surprise in the sprint
Magnier and Kooij narrowly defeated

Magnier and Kooij narrowly defeated

Frits Biesterbos wins the second stage of the Guangxi Tour, from Chongzuo to Jingxi, 179.5 km.
The race only really heats up on the steep climb with about thirty kilometers to go, with several attacks including those of Narvaez, Romo, Rochas and Eulalio, but the group closes in on every move.
The sprinters' teams also numbed their subsequent attempts on the flat, and so the second sprint was headed for a compact group. Neither team managed to form an organized group, and Magnier , without teammates in the final 500 meters, was forced to launch the sprint from afar, with Biesterbos joining him and winning by a hair's breadth. Kooij finished 3rd.
A precious victory in Pic-Nic 's disastrous season, as he finally finds a World Tour success. Magnier remains in the red jersey as overall leader.
