The Belgian precedes Vendrame and Plapp and is the new yellow jersey

Thibau Nys wins the second stage of the Tour de Romandie starting from Friborg and finishing uphill in Salvan/Les Marécottes (171km).

A breakaway made up of eight riders escapes from the main group in the early stages of the race, the attackers then remain in five (Meurisse, Nys, Adrià, Vendrame and Azparren) after the Les Mosses gpm, with almost 3' of margin, at the foot of the final ascent.

The climb doesn't create much selection in the group and Plapp is the first to attack 2 km from the finish line. The Australian manages to reach Nys and Vendrame at the head of the race.

The three manage to fight for the stage victory in the sprint with Plapp starting very long, Vendrame manages to recover, but in the last tens of meters he is mocked by Nys.

The Belgian from Lidl-Trek is the new yellow jersey of the race ahead of Vendrame and Plapp.
