Stage racers and sprinters: that's who they are

After the top 10 of the riders who scored the most points, we also write down those who fared rather badly during the season, in the ratio between the value in millions and the points gained.

Having said that Biniam Girmay dropped by as many as 12 million (from the initial 33 to 21) scoring only 514 points, below the 500 credits obtained in 2023 is the Olympic champion, Richard Carapaz , who scored only 374 points with a final cost of as many as 30 fantasy million (at the beginning of the season it started with 41). The Ef rider raced very little, leaving the Tour de France at the first stage and not even competing in the Vuelta: the fantasy managers who had purchased him regretted it.

Benoit Cosnefroy only scored 201 points (costing 15 million, he started with 23), disappointing those who had hired him for some prominent World Tour races.

In the list there are several sprinters who closed with decidedly lower prices: Fabio Jakobsen (30 fantasy million with only 367 points to his credit), Arnaud Demare (cost 27 but obtained only 471 points) and Sam Bennett (22 credits for only 444 points).

Also bad, returning to the men from stage races, was Louis Meintjes who at 16 fantasy million took home only 265 points. And what about Maximilian Schachmann of Bora: 175 points collected against 17 credits (and a drop of 4 fantamillions). Dylan Teuns did not shine: his step backwards is evident with 19 fantasy million and 339 points scored (5 credits lower).

We close our 'to avoid' lineup with two names that have angered many fantasy managers. We are talking about Daniel Martinez of Ineos who only scored 236 points, thus dropping to 21 (he was at 30 at the beginning of 2023) and above all Sergio Higuita : the Colombian had a crazy drop in his rating (from 36 to 22) because he scored 471 points. For 2024 we expect its initial value to be decidedly 'low cost'.
