Crash at Itzulia, the conditions of the riders

Vingegaard, Evenepoel and Roglic left the race

The terrible fall that occurred just over 30 km from the finish line of the fourth stage of the Itzulia caused serious consequences for several riders. Here is the updated medical bulletin:

Jonas Vingegaard - He broke his collarbone and several ribs and will remain in hospital as a precaution. Recovery times, expected to be 10 weeks, were lengthened after a further diagnosis. The Dane also suffered a pulmonary contusion and a pneumothorax.

 

Remco Evenepoel - He suffered a fracture of his clavicle and right scapula . He will undergo surgery in Belgium and will remain in the pits for approximately 2 months .

Jay Vine - He suffered a fracture of a cervical vertebra and two thoracic vertebrae.

Steff Cras - He suffered a pneumothorax, fractured several ribs and two dorsal vertebrae , as well as several bruises, wounds and abrasions.

Sean Quinn - Suffered a concussion, fractured sternum, abrasions and wounds.

Natnael Tesfatsion - Medical tests revealed no fractures or concussions. Further treatments are underway, particularly on the right elbow, the most serious injury suffered by the runner.

Primoz Roglic - He did not suffer any fractures. The Slovenian, who had just recovered from another fall on Wednesday, was however forced to retire as leader of the general classification.
