According to Van der Poel, third Pedersen
Tadej Pogacar (UAE Emirates) won the 107th edition of the Tour of Flanders solo, the second classic Monument of the season raced today over a distance of 273 km. Second, a few seconds behind, Mathieu Van der Poel (Alpecin Deceuninck). Third Mads Pedersen (Trek Segafredo) ahead of Wout Van Aert (Jumbo Visma).
Exciting race: a breakaway of a dozen interesting riders including Pedersen, Kung, Trentin, Powless, Jorgenson, Wright, Van Hooydonck and Asgreen started at -100m from the finish. The three most awaited, Pogacar, Van der Poel and Van Aert, move on the second pass of the Old Kwaremont: but it is immediately clear that the Slovenian has an edge over his opponents.
Right on the third and last Kwaremont Pogacar, who had already detached Van Aert, also leaves Vdp, catches up with Pedersen and flies towards the finish line.
Numerous crashes in the first part of the race: the most serious saw the disqualification of Filip Maciejuk of Bahrain Victorious, guilty of an action with which he sent about thirty riders to the ground.
Valentin Madouas, another of the possible protagonists of the eve, retired after a few kilometers instead because he was ill.
